Vic Skichase: Changes to Age and Place Points calculation

The previous ski chase age points calculation was tough on anyone under 30 years of age. We have come up with a new system that recognises that natural sporting ability increases rapidly with age up to about the mid 20’s and decreases slowly from about the mid-30’s.

Now we have a fairer competition for everyone.  Both age and place points formulae are given below.

Check out the links here to find where you stand with the new system.  Ski Chase Results Rev D_Women_2012   Ski Chase Results Rev D_Men_2012  If you haven’t registered yet have a look anyway, you may be able to work out which line of data is yours.

Place Points = 82 minus twice your Place  (First place gets 80 points, second 78 points, … 31st place and greater get 20 points.)

Age Points = 30 if you are between 23 and 33

Age Points = 99 minus three times your age if younger than 23

Age Points = your age minus three if older than 33

For example, a 10 year old and a 72 year old both receive 69 points, a 15 year old and a 57 year old both receive 54 points, and a 20 year old and a 42 year old receive 39 points.
