FIS Tour of Fairbanks – Prologue

Lescinska Grimmer competed in her first FIS race of the season in Fairbanks, Alaska. The race was a 2km classic interval start and is one of three races that make up the Tour of Fairbanks.

Starting at 5pm and held under lights the event attracted around 180 people including some top US and European skiers. To say the temperature was cold would be an understatement with the temperature being on the FIS legal limit of -20 degrees.

““I nearly didn’t start as I thought it was going to be too cold, I am not even sure it was warm enough at the start. The race was hard; the cold seemed to make everything more work. I was happy to have the first race out of the way. A short classic race is probably not my best race but I felt I skied the course as well as I had skied any classic race” – paraphrased from post race conversation

Lescinska will skip tomorrow’s 5km classic mass start event and instead start in the 10km skate event on Sunday (temperature permitting)

Results have yet to be posted and will be added to this report when available.
