Expressions of interest wanted for Athlete Representative

It is time to elect new athlete representatives to the SSA Cross Country Committee (SSAXC) for the 2016/17 and 17/18 seasons. The role of the athlete representative is to:

  • Bring an athlete’s perspective to general committee discussion and decisions;
  • Advise the committee on athlete specific issues such as selection policies, race calendars, athlete support mechanisms;
  • Consult with current national team athletes and wider athlete community;
  • Ensure that relevant committee decisions are well communicated to the national team and wider athlete community;
  • The athlete representative may also have an active role on other sub-committees depending on their personal skills and experience.

Any current or recent (within 2 years) national team athlete is eligible to apply. Previous athlete representatives are welcome to reapply provided they meet the above criteria. EOIs should be 1-2 paragraphs in length and should briefly outline why the applicant feels they would be suitable for the position and the issues that the applicant feels are most important for the Australian cross country skiing athletes.

The submissions will then be published on survey monkey and sent to athletes both on the national team and in the wider ski community. Each athlete will have two votes, one each for a male and female representative, and from the results, two athlete representatives will be appointed to SSAXC.

Expressions of interest should be sent to ashleigh.spittle@gmail.com by Sunday the 27th of March. The new representatives will be elected by the 4th of April and should hopefully be available to attend the SSAXC meeting in Canberra on Saturday the 9th of April.

We hope to hear from you soon,
PK and Ash
(Paul Kovacs & Ashleigh Spittle, current SSAXC Athlete Representatives)
